Terms of use

What the calculators are for, the limits of the estimates, and your responsibilities. Last updated: 2026-07-07.

Using Maternity Tally

Maternity Tally is a free, informational website. It provides calculators and written guidance about US maternity and parental leave — state paid family leave, temporary disability programs, the federal Family and Medical Leave Act, and how they combine. You are welcome to use it for personal, non-commercial purposes. By using the site, you agree to these terms.

Estimates for information only — not professional advice

The results the calculators produce are estimates for general information and education. They are not legal, financial, tax, or medical advice, and using the site does not create any professional or advisory relationship.

Your actual leave, pay, and eligibility depend on facts we cannot see — your exact employment history, your employer's specific policies, how a state agency adjudicates your claim, and rules that change over time. Before you make a decision that matters, confirm the details with your employer's HR department, your state's paid-leave or disability agency, and a qualified professional where appropriate.

Accuracy and no warranty

We work to keep the program figures and eligibility rules current, and we cite primary government sources for the numbers behind each calculation. Even so, the site is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. Program parameters change — often at the start of a calendar year — and there may be a lag between an official change and its appearance here. We do not guarantee that the site is error-free or continuously available.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Maternity Tally is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or your reliance on its estimates or content — including decisions about work, leave, or finances. You use the site and act on its output at your own discretion and risk.

Third-party links and services

The site links to government pages and other outside resources, and it is funded by advertising served through Google AdSense. We do not control third-party sites, services, or ads, and we are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or practices. How we handle data, cookies, and advertising is described in our privacy policy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site evolves. When we do, we change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the revised terms.
